What is the Validity period?
This is the time frame that you have to use the bundles, when this period elapses it means that any remaining bundles will have expired and will not be available for use.

Can I be able to transfer bundle purchase through the card to a different number?
Bundle transfer or if you can call it Sambaza is not possible but you can be able to top up another number directly to access the bundles via the format given for third party top up.
Is it possible to activate more than once for the bundles that have a validity of 7 days ie.4MB, 8MB and 16MB?
Yes it’s possible. One is able to activate for the bundles more than once, but customer should note that the bundles will expire after 7days of purchase and this cannot be carried forward.
Will data top up using the scratch cards be successful, when there is no airtime on the top up number used?
Yes data bundle purchase will be successful. Subscriber does not need to have airtime for the data purchase to go through.
What circumstances can cause the data bundle purchase via the scratch card fail?
  • When customer has Okoa Jahazi , balances for these will be deducted first thus bundle purchase will fail and balance if any will be topped up on airtime on the subscribers number
  • When the line used is on pool status, purchase will fail
  • When the wrong format is used for bundle purchase
I have an MTN Uganda sim card and I have been topping up normal airtime with Safaricom cards, can I be able to do bundle data top up using the same cards?
No, this is not possible, you can only be able to use the cards for the normal airtime top up using the procedure *148*Network id (in this case 1)*voucher pin#
The vouchers cannot be used with the MTN and Vodacom sim cards for data bundle purchase.
What is the difference between the daily bundles and the scratch card bundles that have validity of 7 days?
Once a customer subscribes for daily bundles, they have an automatic auto renewal every midnight unless the customer unsubscribes. They can use this bundle within 24 hours and cannot subscribe again within this time frame.
For the scratch card bundles, re-activation/ auto renewal is not automatic, one has to request by topping up the bundle scratch cards. It is possible to have subsequent purchases for these bundles within the 7day period.
If I have subscribed to daily bundles, can I activate using the scratch card bundles e.g. 16MB and if so, which one will be consumed first?
Yes you can subscribe for both. Daily bundles will be consumed first before the scratch card bundles of 16MB or any other.
What is the out of bundle charges for the daily and the scratch card bundles?
For daily bundles out of bundles charges is at a rate of Ksh 4 per MB and the scratch card bundle, charges for out of bundle is at a rate of Ksh 4 per MB.

Setting Internet on your phone

To enjoy Internet browsing on your phone you must first ensure that your handset is correctly configured. Different phone models have different settings and here we have given set-up directions for the most common phones.
Setting Up
To setup your phone to access the Internet, send a blank SMS to 445. A message which contains Internet settings will be sent to your phone. Select "Save" from options to save all the settings. You are now ready for Pepea Internet Mkononi na Safaricom.

What happens after I have exhausted the 20MB activated for the Chattitude Bundle?
If you do have an existing Internet bundle on your line you will be charged on the prevailing rate, if you have airtime, out of bundle charges apply.

    To subscribe to Chattitude, follow the below instructions:

Sambaza Internet is a service that allows customers to transfer internet data bundles from one mobile number to another.
How can I Sambaza internet data bundles?
    One is able to sambaza internet data bundles by the below methods
  1. By dialling *544#
    • Dial *544#
    • Select Internet Sambaza
    • Enter amount of internet data bundles to Sambaza
    • Enter the mobile number you want to sambaza
  2. SMS
    • Send an SMS with the amount of internet data bundles in MBs *Mobile number to 450
    • For example to Sambaza 30MB write an SMS in the format 30*0722000000 and send this to 450
  3. Online via www.safaricom.com/bundles
Is internet Sambaza available for both PrePay and PostPay customers?
The service is accessible to both individual PostPay and PrePay customers.
Is it possible to Sambaza my daily internet data bundles?
Daily internet data bundles cannot be transferred.
What is the minimum internet data bundle that I can sambaza?
The minimum is 5MB internet data bundles.

Bonus / Promotional data bundles cannot be transferred.
Can I Sambaza the night shift internet bundles present on my line?
Night shift internet bundles are considered as promotional bundles hence can't be transferred.
If I Sambaza internet data bundles to a number that has another bundle present on it, what will be the expiry date of the bundles on the receiving line?
The expiry date of the bundles present on the sender number will be compared to the expiry date for the bundles present on the receiving number then the longest expiry date will automatically be picked.
If the receiving number doesn't have any bundles present then automatically the validity of the bundles sent will remain as is.
For example, if I have an internet data bundle expiring on 30th March 2013 and I transfer the bundles to a number whose data bundles expire on 16th April 2013 then the expiry for all the bundles will remain as 16th April 2013.
What would be the possible causes of an internet bundle Sambaza request not going through?
The amount requested for could be out of the range of between 5MB and 900MB.
The receiving line could be inactive
Insufficient internet bundles on the sending line.
What happens if I sambaza internet data bundle to a wrong number?
Reversal of sambaza internet is NOT possible. Customer should confirm the mobile number before completing the request.
I have a prepay number, is it possible to sambaza to a postpay number and vice versa?
  • Prepay customers are able to sambaza to other active prepay numbers and Postpay numbers,
  • For post pay, only individual post pay will be able to sambaza.
  • Corporate PostPay and PrePay customers can only receive data bundles but will NOT be able to Sambaza.

Sambaza Internet allows subscribers to transfer data as much as 900MB data bundles and as little as 5MB in a day. You can send data from one device to another in 3 easy and fast ways:
  1. Dial *544# then select Sambaza Internet
  2. Send an SMS with the amount of internet data bundles in MBs *Mobile number to 450
  3. Or you can visit www.safaricom.com/bundles

Now you can stay in touch with your friends and family with Internet Sambaza!
  • Accessible to both Individual Postpay and prepay subscribers
  • Customer can Sambaza Internet to a maximum of 900MB data bundles in a day, maximum allowed at once is set at 900 MB data bundles.
  • Customer can request for Sambaza Internet requests up to 2 (two) times in a day.
  • One can Sambaza Internet as minimum as 5 MBs data bundles
  • A minimum of 5MB data bundle balance is required to remain on account before sambaza Internet request is successful.
  • Sambaza Internet can be done via USSD, SMS or Online option.
